Western Cape premier Helen Zille and Cape Town mayor, Patricia de Lille, will outline plans on Sunday to stem rising gang violence on the Cape flats that has left dozens dead and injured.
Zille will also be accompanied by Community Safety MEC, Dan Plato and senior provincial and city officials.
The Western Cape government says the recent flare-up of gang violence in hotspot areas has reached crisis levels in Manenberg and is compromising education delivery in the area.
Western Cape Education MEC, Donald Grant, closed 16 schools in the past week as a result of ongoing gang violence.
Zille has called on government to send in the army.
