An 8-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool, while a man is missing after he was swept off rocks in Port Edward on Saturday.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says their duty crew responded to The Pont swimming pool following reports of CPR efforts being conducted by bystanders on the child.
He says a heartbeat was restored by paramedics on the scene and the little girl was transported to hospital in a critical condition where she was later declared deceased by doctors.
In another incident in Port Edward, an unidentified man was swept out to sea after he was washed off rocks at Splash Rock.
Lambinon says a sea rescue craft was launched, but despite an extensive search no sign of the man was found.
The search is continuing.
