Recovery plans are well underway to restore the Moravian mission station at Wupperthal in the Western Cape following last Sunday's devastating fire.
The Moravian Church of Southern Africa said a meeting of relevant stakeholders was held on Friday where key decisions were taken to implement the recovery and rehabilitation plans.
The Church also approved the demolition of all gutted buildings "in the interest of public safety" as the extent of the damage was severe and beyond repair.
The Western Cape Education Department has also agreed to delay the start of the new school year by a week by one week due to the work that will take place this coming week.
The Province's Housing Department has also conducted assessments on the need for emergency housing for the fire victims.
