A woman has been taken to hospital after she was injured during a robbery at Lakeside Mall in Benoni, east of Johannesburg.
A group of 15 armed robbers stormed the mall on Wednesday, threatening employees with firearms.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says the robbery and shooting happened in broad daylight.
"There were at least 15 suspects who stormed into one of the shops at the mall and threatened the employees with firearms before loading clothes into bags.
"On their way out, the suspects started shooting randomly as they ran towards three getaway vehicles. A female worker from one of the shops sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby medical care centre for treatment," said Masondo.
No arrests have been made yet and police are investigating a case of business robbery and attempted murder.
