The WhatsApp account of the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has been hacked.
Department spokesperson Mish Molakeng says this has resulted in the Minister's private and confidential information getting into the hands of a third party.
He said the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities.
Ndabeni-Abrahams is accused of interfering in procurement processes of a R2.1 billion Post Office tender.
Both the South African Post Office and the Minister have come forward to refute the allegations.
In April this year, Ndabeni-Abrahams was placed on special leave for flouting lockdown regulations.
President Cyril Ramaphosa was placed on leave for two months, with one month unpaid.
This was announced by the Presidency in April when the Minister violated lockdown regulations by visiting her friend and former Minister Mduduzi Manana.
