Police in Welkom in the Free State are hunting for seven men who murdered a couple and raped their neighbour this weekend.
Spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Mokhele, said the horror incident took place in Rheederspark in Welkom on Sunday night.
He said a group of four Lesotho nationals were visiting the couple when 51-year-old Marion Chongo asked them to leave as it was getting late.
Mokhele said an argument then ensued between the men which led to Chongo and 38-year-old Joyce Duma, being shot in the head.
The men then tried to rape their daughter, but when this failed, they turned their attentions to their 29-year-old neighbour who was also at the gathering.
"She alleges that she was dragged to the bushes and raped by seven men who later released her," he said.
Police are investigating cases of murder, rape and attempted rape as well as kidnapping.
