Weak rand hurts October fuel price

The energy department has announced that the price of 93 octane petrol will decrease slightly while that of 95 octane will increase by less than 5c/l with effect from next Wednesday the 7th of October.

The price of both grades of diesel, lpg gas and illuminating paraffin will also increase.
Its primarily because of the weakening of the rand against the US dollar as well as the slight increase in the price of crude oil in September, compared to August.

93 octane petrol will drop by 2c/l, 95 octane will increase by 4c/l, and diesel by between 51 and 53 centres a litre depending on the grade.

Illuminating paraffin goes up 67 cents a litre and lpg gas by 11 cents per kilogramme.
