President Jacob Zuma along with Gauteng Premier David Makhura and the Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga have launched Operation Phakisa – Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education.
Motshekga said the programme was aimed at enhancing the country’s standard of basic education.
The programme is also aimed at giving priority to poverty and unemployment highlighted in the National Development Plan.
Phakisa in Education will address the need to train and prepare teachers to integrate Information Communications Technologies in their classrooms and change their teaching practices aligned to ICT resources.
