A Metro officer from Ekurhuleni who was filmed on social media appearing to be intoxicated whilst on duty has been suspended.
The Mayor of the Metro Mzwandile Masina took to Twitter on Tuesday shortly after the video went viral, assuring the public that the relevant authorities will be handling the matter.
He said the matter was of public interest and informed his thousands of Twitter followers on Wednesday morning that both the officer and his supervisor were suspended.
Masina urged the public to give the department space to conclude the matter.
It is alleged that the officer nearly hit someone on a motorbike with his vehicle in Benoni, before threatening to shoot the individual who was filming him.
