The South African Police Service says child pornography cases are on the increase and has warned parents to monitor their children's online activity.
National spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo says since the launch of Operation Cloud Nine in January, an international child porn investigation, eight suspects were arrested.
Arrets were made in the Eastern and Western Cape, Kwazulu Natal and the latest in Boksburg in Gauteng.
Naidoo says in the Boksburg case, the suspect is alleged to have taken and shared naked pictures that he took of his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter on the internet - apparently without the mother's knowledge.
"Since we made the first arrest we started to warn parents of this threat of their children becoming victims of child pornography and also being exposed to child pornography on the internet. I know it is a very difficult thing for parents to believe. We are advising parents to be more on the lookout, especially if their children are busy on the internet" he said.
