An internationally-renowned base jumper, who was severely injured when he crashed at Table Mountain, will be fined for the illegal jump.
Thirty-five-year-old American Jeb Corliss, who is in intensive care in a Cape Town hospital, has completed more than 1000 successful base jumps around the world.
Base jumping is leaping off a mountain, bridge or tower with a parachute.
Table Mountain National Park spokeswoman Merle Collins says Corliss did not have permission to jump.
While doing the the Table Mountain jump, Corliss clipped a rock on his way down.
