The names of the victims who died in Friday’s accident at Hoërskool Driehoek in Vanderbijlpark have been released.
They were identified as the 17-year-old Roydon Olckers the 13-year-old Jandre Steyn and the 13-year-old Marli Curry.
The pupils were killed when a walkway collapsed shortly after assembly on Friday morning.
At the moment 19 children are being treated at various hospitals across Gauteng where they are all in ICU.
According to a prayer group set up for parents on Facebook, several children have been in and out of the theatre for critical operations.
The school has been closed until further notice.
The MEC for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi rushed to Vanderbijlpark shortly after hearing the news of the tragedy.
He said the area where the walkway collapsed is now a crime scene and the matter has been handed over to the South African police.
