A 44-year-old man arrested in connection with R6.6 million fraud is expected to appear in the Ventersdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for a bail application.
Willem Roos was arrested at Lebombo border post on Saturday by members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Hawks, in North West.
Provincial spokesperson captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said he was awarded a tender by the Ventersdorp Local Municipality to install electricity in the RDP houses at a local township in 2016.
“He was allegedly subsequently paid without rendering any services,” he said.
Rhikotso said Roos was afforded an opportunity to submit a statement to the Hawks but he vanished leading to a warrant of arrest being issued for him.
