Embattled low-cost airline Velvet Sky has suspended all flights until the 5th of March.
The company says this because of recent events which saw British Petroleum apply to have the company liquidated because of an outstanding bill of nearly 30-million rand.
Excalibur Aerospace, which is the majority shareholder in Velvet Sky airline, said the suspension will allow the company time to reconstitute its board and balance sheet, and realign its short-term strategy.
It will also allow the company time to properly resolve disputes with certain suppliers.
Velet Sky spokesperson Gary Webb, says customers who have bookings can contact them to change their flights or for refunds.
"We are battling with some of our service providers we are finding it very hard to get fuel delivered to our flights on time and the correct quantities and it is creating quite a bit of a chaotic operation for our customers and we have decided it's better to withdraw the service all together till we can deliver service to the necessary standards" Webb said
