Two trucks and two vehicles belonging to taxi associations were torched following clashes at the Komatipoort border post on Friday.
Mpumalanga police said a truck driver was wounded when a firearm was discharged during an altercation between truck drivers and members of taxi associations.
Spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said he was rushed to hospital.
According to reports the clashes came amid a protest against changes made to the system to process vehicles at the border which led to massive congestion and rising tensions between the two groups.
Mohlala said in the aftermath of a massive blockade and the altercation, two vehicles belonging to the taxi operators were torched.
He said a case of attempted murder was opened at Komatipoort SAPS, but said no case was opened yet in relation to the damage caused to the vehicles.
However, he said police registered a case of public violence.
Mohlala said in the early hours of Saturday morning two trucks were torched and a case of malicious damage to property was opened.
No arrests have yet been made.
