Trade union NUMSA has signed a three-year wage agreement with state-owned power utility Eskom, applicable from July this year to June 2021.
It said the provisions of the deal, signed in the early hours of the Thursday morning, included a 7.5 % wage increase in year one, 7 % the following year, and 7 % in the third one.
The deal also includes a once-off cash payment of R10 000 after tax for all employees in the Bargaining Forum to be made within 48 hours of signing, housing allowance will be increased by CPI for each year of the wage agreement and the conditions of service will remain unchanged for the period 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2021
Numsa general secretary Irvin Jim thanked Numsa members for demonstrating militant discipline and members of the negotiating team who worked tirelessly to resolve the impasse.
