Two tourists from Singapore have died following a drowning incident on the Crocodile River near Hartebeespoort Dam.
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) responded to a call on Sunday afternoon of an accident involving canoes on the river with multiple casualties.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says it was soon established that several tourists had capsized on four canoes.
He says 20 Singaporean tourists were on the expedition with six local river guides.
Lambinon says when they arrived on the scene, two river guides had already commenced CPR efforts on one man and a woman, while six other tourists and two guides needed help in the water.
He says despite efforts the two tourists were declared dead on the scene, while a few others were treated and transported to hospital.
