Western Cape police arrested two men for pointing a gun a SAPS members on patrol in Mitchells Plain on Friday.
A spokesperson said members were busy with crime prevention duties when they noticed a suspicious light green Toyota Corolla and followed it.
“The members saw that two of the occupants had firearms in their hands. The driver pointed a firearm at the members before speeding off,” the spokesperson said.
Police gave chase and fired at the speeding car. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a light pole.
The two occupants sustained injuries to their heads and body and are under police guard in a hospital where they were taken for medical treatment.
