Two men allegedly involved in racist coffin case in court

JOHANNESBURG, November 16 (ANA) – Two white men accused of shoving a black man into a coffin while threatening to kill him in a video clip would appear in the Middleburg Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Wednesday.

The video of the incident have since gone viral on social media, with the Economic Freedom Fighters calling for the “two racist farmers” to face justice.

In the short video the man, identified by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) as Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa, is seen pleading for his life after being placed inside the coffin while one of his tormentors tries to close the coffin. One is heard saying “… we need to pour petrol now sit still.”

The EFF said the two white men beat up Mlotshwa before putting him in coffin. He was punished for allegedly walking through a farm.

“This humiliation can be based on nothing else but his blackness, which means it is in actual fact a humiliation of black people as a whole. They are charged with kidnapping and assault with intend of grievous bodily harm,” the party said.

The incident took place at JM De Beer Boerdery near the Komati power station.
