Two men were killed in an apparent street race on Rachel De Beer Street in Pretoria North in the early hours of this morning.
Netcare 911's Jeffrey Wicks says information from eye witnesses at the scene indicates that four vehicles had been racing on Rachel De Beer Avenue, jumping red traffic lights.
Wicks says the driver of a bakkie appears to have lost control while negotiating a bend and slammed into a tree at high speed.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the crumpled wreckage wrapped around the tree.
Both the driver and passenger were killed on impact.
