Two suspects who were arrested for transporting an assortment of drugs worth over R2 million in Cape Town are expected to appear in the Philippi Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The duo’s arrest follows a joint operation by the Hawks Narcotics Enforcement Bureau and Crime Intelligence team.

Police say members acted on information about a consignment of drugs set to be transported from a storage facility in Cape Town on Monday.

When they arrived at the scene, they spotted one of the suspects loading three boxes into his vehicle.

They proceeded to search the boxes which were packed full of compressed dagga.

A further search of the storage unit led members to find 14 more bales as well as 18 striped bags also filled with compressed dagga.

The second suspect was arrested at a nearby garage where a search of his vehicle uncovered heroin worth R60 000.
The men aged 41 and 44 will face charges of dealing in drugs.
