Two arrested for brazen Fidelity robbery

File

Two men have been arrested for a brazen robbery at Fidelity's guard base in Gauteng.

The men, aged 45 and 49, were arrested on Monday morning in Protea Glen and Braamfischer respectively.

"Police recovered an undisclosed amount of money," according to a statement.

The arrests were carried out in a joint operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Johannesburg, National CIT Task Team, Technical Operations Management, Crime Intelligence, and Traffic Saturated Unit.

Police believe the men were part of a group of heavily-armed men, clad in Fidelity uniforms who raided the premises on 21 November, tying up security guards and using power tools to grind open the doors to the volt.

They reportedly fled with "millions" in cash.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Wednesday while the hunt for the remaining accomplices continues.
