Police in Mpumalanga launched a manhunt for four suspects involved in the murder and robbery of a couple in Barberton in the early hours of Monday morning.
Two men were taken in for questioning while the hunt continues.
Police said the four attackers entered the yard of a house where they held the owner hostage and tied him up with some items of clothing.
They then broke into a backroom where the couple, who are tenants, were robbed of their belongings, including the keys to their liquor outlet, before they were shot dead.
A police spokesperson said the suspects proceeded to the liquor outlet “where they were apparently looking for cash.”
Two counts of murder and counts of house robbery and business robbery are under investigation.
