Truck drivers across the country were expected to down tools on Saturday night in protest against the hiring of foreign nationals.
Drivers linked to the organisation All-Truck Drivers Forum and Allied SA are aggrieved over what they believe to be the priority treatment given to foreigners.
ATDF ASA secretary-general, Sifiso Nyathi said a less disruptive protest was planned for the weekend.
He said they would not be driving at all on Sunday, and on Monday, they would be going to the bargaining council to hand over a memorandum with their grievances.
Nyathi said there would be no blockages on the roads, and appealed to their drivers to stay at home.
“If a transport operator is not registered under the bargaining council, they must not operate because those companies are the ones who are fly-by-night, killing the economy, killing the market and employ foreigners because they won’t comply with the minimum wage,” he said.
