The Witzenberg municipality in the Western Cape is investigating a senior traffic officer for allegedly posting calls for violence against farmers on Facebook.
CensorBugbear.org, a news organisation which claims that Afrikaners are victims of genocide, reposted the officer's comments.
It says, in Afrikaans, that it looks as if people must again pick up their AK47s in the Western Cape, and that he is sick of farmers and the DA.
The comments came amid tension in fruit-growing areas over pay strikes.
Witzenberg municipal manager David Nasson and the SA Local Government Association are investigating a complaint against the officer.
He had not been charged and was still on active service.
