South African National Parks has confirmed that a tourist had been trampled to death by an elephant in the Kruger National Park.
SANParks spokesperson JP Louw says the incident happened near Crocodile River at the Malelane Gate on Saturday.
He says the events leading up to the incident are currently under investigation.
Louw urged the public not to post pictures or videos on social media due to the sensitivity of the matter.
The SANParks Board and Management extended their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
