A three-year-old girl who was kidnapped for ransom in Springs last week has been reunited with her family.
National Police spokesperson, Colonel Athlenda Mathe, said the child was kidnapped at her school in Springs last Thursday by a woman who pretended to be the little girl’s childminder.
“Following her kidnapping, alleged kidnappers had demanded millions of rands for her safe return.”
Mathe said a multi-disciplinary team that included private security and ambulance companies, descended on the Eastgate Mall where the ransom was due to be delivered.
“As soon as the suspects arrived to collect the ransom money, the team swooped in on the four suspects and rescued the little girl,” she said.
Police recovered two unlicensed firearms as well as two vehicles while the suspects are due to appear in court soon.
