The estranged wife of well-known Senior Counsel, Advocate William Mokhari, has appeared in court on a charge of conspiracy to kill him.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Boitumelo Mokhari was granted bail in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday of R3000 where she appeared alongside co-accused Shadrack Malipane and Jacob Malope.
The two men were arrested on Thursday, 14th of April, with Mokhari, handing herself over to the Sandton police last Wednesday.
NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, said SAPS had acted on a tip-off about a plot to murder Advocate Mokhari, with allegations received that the firearm that was to be used was delivered to Malipane, a so-called prophet.
The firearm was found in the boot of his car.
Mjonondwane said in opposing bail, the State said at the centre of the alleged plot were the divorce proceedings instituted by Advocate Mokhari against his estranged wife.
The matter was postponed to 14 June for further investigation
