The Hawks said three suspects are due to appear in court next week in connection with a series of bomb threats in Durban.
Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, said the three who were arrested this week were also linked to the attack on a mosque in Verulam in May in which one person was killed and two others were wounded by a knife-wielding assailant.
A few days later an explosive device was found at the same mosque.
In July and August bombs were also found at stores in major shopping malls in Durban, including several Woolworths outlets.
Mulaudzi said the suspects would be charged with arson, murder, attempted murder and the contravention of the Explosives Act.
Meanwhile, Police Minister Bheki Cele, told reporters in Durban that more arrests are expected.
He said the investigation team has established that “extortion” was the most likely motive for these incidents.
