Three people are due to appear in a Western Cape court on charges of extortion.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said the three were arrested for allegedly being behind an extortion case where a Botriver businessman was fleeced out of R300 000.
He said during last week’s arrest, police recovered the money, cell phones, two cars, and a large number of 3G as well as bank cards.
Van Wyk also applauded the assistance from the Overberg Municipality and neighbourhood watch members, who he said helped out with “cutting-edge” technology that was used during the operation.
The three suspects, aged 29, 39, and 50, are due to appear in court in Caledon.
