A man, his wife and their daughter were murdered on their farm near Griekwastad in the Northern Cape last night.
Police say Deon Steenkamp, his wife Christelle, and their 14-year-old daughter Marthella were shot in their farmhouse on Naauwhoek, about 25 kilometres from the town.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Blackie Swart says the bodies were found by the couple's 16-year-old son, Don, who was not present during the shooting.
He has been placed in the care of a guardian.
No-one has been arrested and at Swart says this stage there is no man-hunt for any suspects.
