Three children were killed, after a motorist allegedly lost control of a car while drag racing, knocking down 12 children at Goba Village, east of Malelane, in Mpumalanga.
Community safety department spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi says three of the learners were critically injured and were transported to Tonga Hospital were they later died from their injuries.
He says the other nine children suffered minor injuries and are recovering in hospital.
The driver of the car was arrested and is expected to appear in court soon on charges of culpable homicide and reckless driving.
