Mpumalanga police arrested three suspects for a brutal attack in which the victim’s hands were hacked off.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said the arrests were made on Wednesday night at Vosman, near Witbank.
He said the three, aged between 20 and 55, will be charged with the attempted murder of the 30-year-old man.
Mdluhli said the arrests were made by members of a multi-disciplinary task team.
He said police recovered the severed hands at the scene, adding that the victim was recovering in hospital.
Mpumalanga police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela, appealed for calm after the incident fuelled community anger.
She said the remaining suspect will be arrested soon.
