Thousands of comments and suggestions for SONA

The Presidency says it has received more than 2 000 comments from South Africans on suggestions for topics to be covered during president Jacob Zuma's state of the nation address in a week's time.

Presidential spokesperson, Mac Maharaj, says all inputs are valuable and are being taken into account in the President's address to the nation.

He says the Presidency invited inputs and suggestions from members of the public on issues people consider important for their well-being and those of their communities - that should be included in the speech.

Maharaj says the social media campaign on Twitter and Facebook will close on Monday.

" Some of the dominant issues are Small-Medium and Mikro Enterprise development, education, revising social grants, crime and drugs-including issues of substance abuse and drug dealers, corruption, housing, increase of public servants housing allowance, better salaries for police, teachers and mineworkers, skills development, electricity or energy crisis and xenophobia, homophobia and the rise of racism" he said.
