Police say the Ventersdorp police station has been burgled with the thieves making off with several items.
These included 80 packets of cigarettes and a laptop computer which was to be used in a pending court case.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Henry Vermeulen, says this is a true story.
He says the thieves gained entry to the police station through the roof on Sunday night.
Vermeulen says they know who the culprits are and arrests are expected soon.
