Police in Gauteng have arrested 13 suspects believed to be security personnel for two rival taxi associations in Kagiso.
Spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says police from the West Rand District attended a scene where the two security groups were firing at each other.
He says when officers approached the chaos, the occupants from the armoured vehicle started jumping out and fleeing on foot.
SAPS managed to corner 13 suspects and confiscated 13 rifles, four pistols, several rounds of ammo and magazines.
Colonel Nevhuhulwi says during their investigation another firearm was found hidden at a nearby petrol station.
He says all the weapons will go for ballistic testing to determine if it was used in the commission of other serious or violent crimes.
Two people were injured during the shootout.
The suspects will be charged with attempted murder and discharging of a firearm in a municipal area.
