Ten people arrested for illegal dog fighting

The NSPCA's Special Investigations Unit was involved in another successful raid on a dog fighting operation at the weekend when 9 severely injured dogs were rescued and 10 people arrested in Gauteng.

Several dog fighters fled the scene, abandoning their animals.
They were pursued and apprehended by police officers.

A number of animals did not survive while others are receiving veterinary treatment and will remain under the control of the NSPCA for safekeeping.Criminal charges have been laid in terms of the Animals Protection Act against those arrested.
