Ten people were killed on the N6 between Reddersburg and Smithfield on Wednesday when a bus and truck collided.
The bus, carrying 35 passengers, was travelling from Gauteng to Idutwa in the Eastern Cape when it collided with the truck just after 4 a.m.
Twenty-two injured passengers have been taken to hospitals in Smithfield and Bloemfontein for medical treatment.
Seven patients are critical.
Meanwhile, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has sent a team of crash investigators to the Free State to probe the cause of the accident.
It says that information at this stage indicates that the bus was travelling on the N6 from Reddersburg to Smithfield while the truck with two trailers was travelling in the opposite direction.
The two vehicles collided in a side swipe type crash.
