A teenager is in police custody after video footage emerged of him assaulting his grandmother.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut says police only learned about the video footage on Wednesday and registered a case docket for further investigation.

He says the victim, who is from Wallacedene in Kraaifontein was traced where she was being treated in hospital for an ailment not related to the assault.
Traut says when asked about the assault, she declined to submit a statement.
He says according to their information the assault took place last month at the elderly woman's home.
It was further established that police were called out to the scene on the night of the assault but the family took the matter in their own hands and refused police assistance.
Colonel Traut says when they saw the video circulating on the internet, the severity of the matter was realised and a case docket was opened on behalf of the victim.
The victim's 19-year-old grandchild was arrested at his house and will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court once charged.
