The State has withdrawn all the charges against television presenter and rapper Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye.
Maarohanye was facing three counts of rape, two of attempted murder and one of assault.
He surrendered to the police in Johannesburg last year after a court issued a warrant for his arrest.
At the time, the State had said some of the charges dated back to 2006.
Maarohanye was out on R10 000 bail.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane explained the reasons for the withdrawal of charges.
"The decision follows the careful consideration of the information that was made available to the prosecution through representations that were submitted by the defense as well as the prosecutor’s report and the perusal of the evidence in the case docket," she said.
"As the NPA, we are of the view that there are no prospects of a successful prosecution and the only sensible thing to do was to withdraw the charges."
