Cape Town police have arrested a teenager in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Lonwabo Jack who was a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says Jack's body was found in Nyanga on Sunday with a stab wound to the chest.
She says detectives launched an extensive search for the suspect who was arrested in Eerste Rivier on Wednesday morning.
The 17-year-old will appear in court soon on a charge of murder.
According to activists, Jack was murdered just hours after celebrating his 22nd birthday.
The LGBTQI+ community expressed their disappointment earlier on Wednesday over the fact that the President has not made any comment on the recent spate of murders.
On Friday, last week, a large group of activists marched to Parliament to honour Andile Ntuthela, affectionately known as Lulu, who was brutally murdered in Kariega in the Eastern Cape.
