Teacher on precautionary suspension after abuse allegations

 The education department has placed a Soweto primary school teacher on a precautionary suspension following allegations that he sexually abused a pupil.

The teacher, who is based at a Pimville school, is facing an internal disciplinary hearing after he was accused of showing a pornographic video to two girls, and then sexually molesting one of them.

The families of the girls, aged 13 and 14, laid charges at Kliptown police station.
Police confirmed that a case of sexual assault is being investigated.
