Police in Mbombela in Mpumalanga have made a breakthrough in the murder investigation of a local anaesthetist, Dr Nicholas Proctor.
Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli says the 40-year-old Dr Proctor was reported missing on the 1st of February and later that day his lifeless body was found in a flat in Green Valley.
He says a murder case was opened and a designated team of investigators worked around the clock to find the suspects.
Three men aged between 20 and 38 were apprehended on Monday at Protea Glen in Gauteng.
Colonel Mdhluli says they were hauled back to Mbombela to appear in court.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended members of the Police for the swift breakthrough and their professionalism to bring some kind of relief to the late Doctor's family.
It is not yet clear what led to Proctor's murder or how he was killed.
