Four men accused of following their victims from the Bank before robbing them are expected to appear in a court in Johannesburg on Friday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo says they received information that the suspects were zoning in on their next target in the Johannesburg CBD on Wednesday.
He says when police stopped the car they found one suspect wearing an incomplete police uniform.
Masondo says they also found a replica firearm, balaclavas, a police jacket, cap and bulletproof vest in the car.
Police later established that the vehicle was fitted with false registration plates with a blue light on the dashboard.
The men will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, impersonating a police officer and possession of suspected stolen property.
More charges could be added.
The suspects are aged between 33 and 37.
