Suspects in Joslin Smith's disappearance in court again

Supplied

Four people charged in connection with the disappearance of little Joslin Smith appeared in the Vredenburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Joslin's mother, Jacquel, her boyfriend Jacques Appolis and two others, Steveno Van Rhyn and Lorentia Lombard face charges of trafficking in persons for purposes of exploitation, as well as kidnapping.

The National Prosecuting Authority says it was the first time all four accused, who had previously abandoned their bids for bail, appeared in court together.

Spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, said the State requested that the matter be postponed for further investigation.

He said senior state advocate, Aradhana Heeramun, informed the court that it had received a forensic report and cell phone data which they are busy analysing.

The case was postponed to 15 July.
