Three suspects appeared in a Northern Cape court for being in the possession of unpolished diamonds.
The men, aged between 40 and 51, made a brief appearance before Upington Magistrate court on Friday, following their arrest the day before.
Hawks spokesperson, Nomthandaso Mnisi, said Lionel Cloete, Owen Kowa and Motale Joseph Kheola, were granted bail of R5000 each.
Mnisi said police were acting on a tip-off and arrested the suspects during a “disruptive operation” on Thursday.
“The team also managed to seize five cell phones, one unpolished four-carat diamond, and a BMW 3 series.”
Mnisi said the suspects will be back in court again on 18 July.
