Suspect sought after woman stabbed to death in NC bank

Northern Cape police are searching for a man who stabbed a woman to death inside a branch of Absa Bank in Douglas yesterday.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kok, said the incident happened on Tuesday morning when 61-year-old Helen Janse Van Vuuren, went to deposit money at an ATM inside the branch.

He said the suspect, who was captured on the ATM's camera with a large knife in his hand, stabbed Janse Van Vuuren before fleeing with an undisclosed but large amount of cash.

Kok said a person was taken in for questioning but could not be linked to the murder.

The search for the suspect continues.
