A 25-year-old man who was initially arrested for several burglaries in Giyani in Limpopo is now believed to be a serial rapist.
The suspect was first arrested in February this year which led to a lengthy investigation which eventually positively linked him to 18 cases of rape.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the man allegedly terrorised women between the ages of 19 and 90 for the past six years.
He says the alleged serial rapist would wait for his unsuspecting victims while they went to collect firewood where he would then rape them in the nearby bushes.
He is expected to appear before the Giyani Magistrate Court on Friday on additional charges of rape.
Brigadier Mojapelo says he will also appear before other different magistrate courts for seven burglary and house robbery cases.
