Detectives in Kwazulu Natal are appealing to members of the public to assist them in locating a baby who was kidnapped just over two months ago.
Police Spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala says the baby girl, who was three months old at the time, was with her mother at the Department of Home Affairs in Pietermaritzburg where she applied for an ID document.
She says it is there where the 24-year-old mother met the suspect, whom she only knows by name.
The Department was busy processing her application when she was told that she had to go to the nearest police station to obtain an affidavit.
The woman (suspect) she met, offered to accompany her to the station. Whilst en-route she realised that she misplaced the baby carrier at Home Affairs and had to return.
She left the child in the care of the woman who then vanished with her baby.
Police believe that the woman in the identikit can assist them in their investigation.
Anyone with information of her whereabouts is requested to contact Warrant Officer Xolani Zaca on 079 500 0386 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
