Still no arrests after van with explosives is hijacked in Gauteng

Police in Krugersdorp are still looking for six suspects who hijacked a van full of explosives on the N12 last week.

The White Isuzu van was loaded with explosives (Tioxler Mechanic Nuclear Devices) and industrial equipment when it was hijacked on the morning of the 14th of August.

According to a police statement the six armed men were driving in three different vehicles when they forced the victims off the road.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and phones before some suspects fled with the hijacked van.

The driver and his assistant were dropped off at an unknown location, unharmed.

The District Commissioner of West Rand, Major General Kekana has called on members of the community to come forward with information as these explosives are used in violent crimes such as bombing cash delivery vehicles or ATM's.

Community members are urged to contact the police immediately and to not attempt to touch these explosives as they are harmful.
